Summers Passed

I miss cottage life. Everything was so simple. So laid back. So happy. Every time I go back there I come back with great memories...something this summer has, for the most part, lacked to date. The cottage is being sold this summer. And I plan to take advantage of it while it's still around. This summer has been lackluster so far....change is in order. Some changes are wanted, others not at all. Some positive, some negative. I like to this positive will win out in the end...it's always come around before....

This will be missed. Posted by Picasa

Shadows

They say life in the real world begins when you finish university. I've been struggling to find this 'real world' that is spoken of. In search of this, I have found myself on the other side of the country, back home, and now in Ottawa. Thus far my search for the real world has uncovered nothing but feelings of doubt, loneliness, and uncertainty....a feeling of being lost.

For a period of my life recently, a new month meant a new province. A new province meant a new city to learn, new bus routes to get lost on, the now familiar streets full of strange faces. Along with new expectations and opportunities came the doubts, insecurities, and sleepless nights that seem to follow me wherever I go, like a shadow.

I guess the question is.....what IS the real world? How do I find it. Will I even know what this real world is, if or when I find it? I'm beginning to think that maybe I left my real world behind when I decided to pack up my life and jump on that plane. If great friends, family, fun, and love are it, then I guess I did.

I hope I can soon outrun these shadows that have been following me around these past few months. When I do, I know I've finally found my real world.

I miss this. Posted by Picasa

City and Colour Posted by Picasa

Occupied

View of downtown Vancouver from Granville Island. A few pictures merged together into a panorama. You get the idea. Much more visible in a new window so it's bigger. Thank god for that camera I bought or I would have gone crazy in Vancouver.

On the road again....

Alright so basically here is my path from november until right now.

Pei --> Toronto --> Vancouver --> Victoria --> Vancouver --> Toronto --> Montreal --> Ottawa --> Quebec City --> Pei --> Ottawa.

Now I seem to finally be settled down again. Three months, about a thousand pictures, and who knows how many miles travelled I finally seem to have a home again.

Now all I need is a chiropractor to fix my back from sleeping on couches for two months straight and I'll be all set.

I am going to try to make a conscious effort to try to get back into this blogging business. I've said it before I know, but I think I can really do it this time. I am feeling inspired by this music I'm listening to right now and it's making me want to write. So from now on when I need to write a post I will turn this music on and let my fingers do the walking. Stay tuned....

What music am I listening to? City and Colour.

Game Time!

So being bored at work I often play games on the internet. I was looking around certain sites that I go to often and came across a very weird name for a game.........
Now it may just be me, but does anyone else find the name of this game kinda weird considering it's a children's game site? See what I'm talking about here....

Somewhere, there is some nerdy game programmer laughing and snorting at the fact that he actually got that game to the internet I'm sure.

Help

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. Been pretty busy with work, school, golf, drinking, etc. Feels like I haven't had a lot of summer yet......one week.

So the point of this post is simple. I'm finding it very hard to decide what to do with my life in the fall once I'm done of school, done of work at dva since I won't be a student........
That being said, I am asking for people's thoughts as to what I should do or what they would do in similar circumstances. Any ideas or suggestions you have I accept with open arms, so lets hear them.

Damn You Bridge! You make use prisoners on our own Island.
Imagine life without this bridge.......cheaper & more frequent road trips, access to canned pop, fireworks, and Angie's! Can't help but think life would be better if this Bridge were free....or at least cheaper for Islanders. Heck even a buy 4 get 1 free type promotion for locals would be acceptable. I mean come on! We have to pay to leave our province.

Let's rise up against this unjust imprisonment! Who's with me?!!?!?!?!?!?Posted by Hello

Twitch

This post goes out to all the nurses/science students out there who may be able to help me. All my life I have twitched a little bit right when falling asleep as I'm sure lots of people do. But lately, it's getting out of control. It has transformed from a slight twitch to more of what I would call a violent full body spasm that literally lifts my arms and legs up off of my mattress every couple of minutes until I finally get to sleep. Just wondering if anyone knows what the hell causes this??? It's getting in the way of my beauty sleep.....and we all know how much I need that!

If anyone has any insight let me know please!

Know what's gross? Hearing someone having a shit in a public washroom. Groans included.
They should make those stalls sound proof or play music in there or something..........

Just had to vent since that just happened to me.

Search for the Great Canadian Jacks

On the drive home from Halifax this weekend, the boys(Bordo, Jimmy, Rick, B) came up with an idea. Drive across this great country of ours and document the ultimate roadtrip on film. Pretty common thought among people like ourselves I'm sure, but I wonder how many people actually go through with it.

That being said, I make this post as an offer to anyone who would actually be interested and able to do this at the end of August. I myself will be done of school, done of work, and looking for something to occupy my life. So I am in for sure. If anyone else is game, leave a comment.

T-Minus 75 days.

Scene from B's Dreams, Take 1. ACTION!

So lately I've been having some epic dreams. Like the kinda dream that seems to last for hours on a continuous story....very vivid and movie-like. For instance my dream last night:

James and I were driving down the Trans-Canada highway over by sober's music. All of a sudden the car I was driving got stuck in gear, and I was thrown from the driver door onto the street while Jimmy was stuck in the car. It went into a couple houses and finally came to rest. When I went to see the damage, there was none done to the houses at all, but the car was crumpled into the size of a garbage can basically. Jimmy crawled out of it unhurt somehow, then the house we crashed into had a kid they kinda hid cause it was a mutant with a deformed face...ever see the movie "Wrong Turn"? the kid looked like one of the people in that movie.
Then there was a big storm by the hilsborough bridge, waves were coming up to the top of it....me and rob had to get to a soccer game in vernon river....lots of crazy shit happened between town and there. We had the cops after us for some reason....just a really looooooong, weird dream that could have very easily been a movie.

So I propose a challenge to everyone to build a machine that can somehow record my dreams. I will give anyone that can do this a 50% share on the earnings from all of my "Dream Movies" haha. It's a sure bet....get working!

Untitled (This is a post)

After seeing the new Simple Plan video called "Untitled (How could this happen to me?), I became very frustrated. Why name a song Untitled if you're going to put something in brackets afterwards anyway? Isnt' the purpose of an 'Untitled' song name meant to give it some sense of deep meaning....a 'no title could express what this song stands for' kinda thing?

Anyway, after being very aggravated by this Simple Plan song every time I see it, I decided to look up how many other Untitled(This is the real title) songs I could find. There is a rediculously large number, and here they are:

Untitled (How could this happen to me?) - Simple Plan
Untitled (How Does It Feel) - D'angelo
Untitled (Union Blood) - Rancid
Untitled (The Color Red) - Pearl Jam
Untitled (Fantastic) - Slum Village
Untitled (Wicked Child?) - Radiohead
Untitled (Come To Jesus) - Chris Rice
Untitled (Tayter King Song) - The Cavedogs
Untitled (Lovers Turn Into Monsters) - Bright Eyes

And last, but not least........Mudhoney with no less than three:
Untitled (Snip It)
Untitled (The Fortez)
Untitled (Wooden Legged Cowboy Buck)

Of course I am overreacting to this, but it just gets under my skin. That is all.

Team Cystic Fibrosis

This is a warning to all Mens soccer teams on PEI....Team Cystic Fibrosis is on the pitch! That's right Clark and Clow are re-united once again on the Churchill Arms dynamo. While best known for their unbelievable P-VO skills, never before have you seen two soccer players work in such union. In fact, you may not see us as much more than a blur while we juggle around your defense. Be sure to keep an eye out for the dreaded 'you know it' right foot kick....it may be a kick to the shin, or it may kick a blistering shot into the corner of the net. One thing is for sure, when you hear those three words, you best get out of the way. Consider yourselves warned......

YOU KNOW IT!

Pleasing Old Ladies Since 2004

Alright so after a few long and busy weeks of hell, I will now start posting again. I know I know, I've said it before but this time I really mean it. Mostly because I was threatened by a certain Bryan Fleming. And we all know he's got access to tanks, guns, smoke bombs, and the ever feared roman candle. I don't want to take a fireball to the jugular like Wigmoe.

So I found out today that I am accepted back to DVA this summer once again. I shall continue to give old ladies extreme pleasure..........mostly by padding their wallets with lots of cash. With the odd intimate phone call on the side it's a great job. Making it to work at 8 will prove to be tough some mornings, such as the day after 2 for 1 nights at Peakes. More baha shot marathons are sure to occur this year. From what I recall, the last one got us all so drunk we were just shouting "it tastes like neopolitan!!!!" and proceeded to keep asking for neopolitan shots. I think it was baha mocha? Who cares really. Good times. Rick we'll have to continue the tradition of sneaking rum in our socks and making ridiculously strong drinks in the bathroom.

This summer should prove to be a gong show. Gonna be a busy one with trying to figure out what to do in the fall, soccer, golf, drinking, bbqs, beachin, drinking, walking home at 3am from peakes, falling on my face, working. Lets make it a good one folks.

So there you go Bryan, a nice long post for you to read. Now you have no reason to shoot me with a roman candle.........but really, who needs a reason?

Team Brick!

Ok so it's official. Nick and myself, also known as the infamous "Team Brick" are heading back down to Playa Naco on april 25th. Sure it seems kinda ridiculous to go down twice in 3 months, but really when will the chance come up in our lives when we have the opportunity to do this again?

Before we know it, we'll all be working full time career type jobs, living with our girlfriends/fiancees/wives with our 2.5 kids and pets. We'll all be scattered in various places across the country and seldomly will we have the chance to get together in such a manner. I mean in all reality lets face it, in the next 5 years we will all have to become responsible adults. Some more than others, but it's gonna happen to the best of us. Scary thought.

So this being said, Nick lets make the most of this trip and hopefully the others trying to make it will find a way. In the words of the immortal Jeff Clow "You know it!!!!!!!!!" End Post Here

Slack

So I've realized I'm getting kinda slack on this blog thing. Sorry to those who have actually looked for stuff often. I'm not sure there are any of you....but anyway. It's hard to think of stuff to put on here. I mean I know that nothing I post is really relevant or useful in any way, but it's still a challenge to decide what to put on here to entertain people, yet prevent myself from looking like a complete idiot. So I'm going to try to get back into the swing of things from now on.

St. Patty

Well another St. Patty's day will soon be upon us. Should be an interesting time for sure. Commencing the drinking at 2pm usually brings great results. Hopefully my video camera will be able to capture the madness once again this year.

It's funny to look back at the video from just a year ago and think of who will likely be at 607 this coming week. Safe to say there will only be about 4 people there returning from the last year. Nick, Steveo, Shane MacQ, and myself(if i forgot anyone else I'm sorry). Amazing to think how things change in a short year. People move, people have falling outs, people lose touch....things just change. One thing that won't change however is that whoever is there will have a good time, and I guess in the end that's what matters. So I'll end by saying that Thursday we'll be drinking at 607 starting at 2pm. If you know me well enough to read this then you know me well enough to be invited. See you there.

Truly Random

Ok now we will discuss the power of the blog. So my cousin who is approximately 30 years old happened to be surfing randomly around the internet. Happened to come across a blog site and looked at it.....hit the "next random blog" or whatever button. Went through a few, and who's did he come across???? Mine. How weird. Of alllllllll the blogs he could have come across......wow.
I wonder how many blogger accounts there actually are? I'm guessing 1,254,789.
All for now. Lame post. I know.

Gullible

Ok come on people smarten up!!!

When are you all going to learn that when someone sends you a random message saying "omg this is so funny" followed by a random web address that seems suspicious, it is a VIRUS. It's not that hard to figure out. I mean I know it's tempting to see something funny...but if you need that so desperately just come out with me next time I drink(see previous posts for more info).

Again, if someone tries to send you a mysterious file that says "john kerry in a chicken suit" or "her ass could fit in a teacup" don't accept. I mean not only are they ridiculous names of files....we are all familiar enough with msn by now that we know it shows a preview of the picture being sent. No preview = VIRUS.

Now you may wonder why I am so bitter about this virus when I am apparently smart enough to avoid it. Well, it's because about every 10 minutes I get a message containing one of the above "hilarious" file names. This means I get up and check the messages thinking someone actually wants to talk to me, only to find it's actually an automatic virus message. Hard on the self esteem. So for my sake, and yours.....lets stop being so gullible......please?

FFA

Hi, my name is Brendan and I'm addicted to fast food.

So I went for lunch today to Capt Sub. Wait patiently in line and when I finally get to the front the girl behind the counter says "The usual?" I didn't think anything of it, said yes, and was on my way. It was then that I truly realized that I have taken this fast food thing too far. The lady at great canadian bagel knows my order too, but I never thought anything of it...it's just a bagel, and people get those all the time right? But capt sub??? Who knows how long will it be before I go to Wendy's or Burger King or McDonald's and they'll be saying "The usual?". Scary thought.

It's for this reason that I am proposing FFA - Fast Food-aholics Anonymous. I know many of my friends are guilty of it. Maybe not as much as me, but we all need help. If anyone is interested please let me know. If not I will have to make it a solo mission.

Krafty

So I've come to the conclusion today that one of the first companies I want to invest in when I start to do all that business is none other than Kraft. Wanna know why? That question can be answered with another question, as follows:

When is the last time you saw a fridge that didn't have Kraft Singles cheese slices in it???

I can't remember the last time. I know that over the last 20 years our fridge has always had a healthy supply. I am, in fact, an avid user. User or consumer? I don't know, but I do know that there are 35 million people in the country mostly all buying these cheese slices. I don't even wanna think of the numbers in America. Simply staggering!

Don't even get me started on Kraft Dinner either. I mean common!!!

How can Kraft lose?

Clueless

Well I am going to stop being so lazy and finally post something on here. There is way too much to tell about the whole week, so I am instead going to list some things from down there so if you hear me say them you won't think I am an idiot. I'm sure nick will list some of these, but here we go:
- "You know it!" followed by a right foot kick
- Pound it
- Wilkinson, Ramone, Chicken Legs and Sammy
- " ehe ehe ehe"
"- Muchos Vitaminos"
- Hemmingways
- Ole ole ole ole.....oleeee....olleeeeee(I know this is common but takes on a whole new meaning down there)
- Team Brick
-B
-Rick
- P-vo and B-vo where I made the fist technique legendary
- Sharone says "Chicken Cherry Pie"
-" The touch me......so i can get some....satisfaction" song.
- My impeccable siren impression
- Oj chugging
- and many others

Basically it was the best week of our lives and I strongly encourage everyone to make it down at one point or another. I, personally, will be attending in april once again. What better way to celebrate graduation right???

I'll post some of the pics now....

Out for now. B
