Twitch

This post goes out to all the nurses/science students out there who may be able to help me. All my life I have twitched a little bit right when falling asleep as I'm sure lots of people do. But lately, it's getting out of control. It has transformed from a slight twitch to more of what I would call a violent full body spasm that literally lifts my arms and legs up off of my mattress every couple of minutes until I finally get to sleep. Just wondering if anyone knows what the hell causes this??? It's getting in the way of my beauty sleep.....and we all know how much I need that!

If anyone has any insight let me know please!

Bren. This used to happen to me (still does once and awhile). I think that it has something to do with nerves, and what is going on in your life. Any stress??? Wait a minute... what do you have to stress about????
I know when my Grammy died like 8 years ago that is when it was bad.
Sorry wish I could give you more help!

P.S. Move out to BC and all will be corrected

Bren,

Just thought I'd let you know I was also twitching last night and had a big one that totally woke me out of a fairly deep sleep...perhaps it runs in the fam.

They are called snoregasisms. I knew someone who had violent ones as well. I think they are related to stress, and since yours are fairly violent- i would assume you are stressed out.

Hey babe,
Stress yes, I agree. But also eating too close to the time you go to bed increases the chances of them occuring, as your muscles can't completely relax. And are you getting enough calcium? A lack of calcium in your diet can cause problems such as this one... you may wanna up ur intake of the big Ca+2 or think about supplements :) I know u don't drink coffee, but for anyone who does same thing... no coffee at least 6 hours before bed... huge sleep problems because we need to relax to sleep, coffee's a stimulant!!!

Hey Brenny,

Someone told me once that you twitch because your brain is too busy thinking/processing information and doesn't want to be shut off. So it sends pulses through your body to wake itself up so it can continue doing what it's doing
